Colorful Fall Leaf Viewing

紅葉

Enjoy the colorful fall scenery

As the mornings and evenings begin to cool in fall, the leaves on trees turn red and yellow, producing colorful fall landscapes that should not be missed. Daisho-in Temple and Toko-ji Temple, which are both temples associated with the Mori family, are recommended destinations where visitors can enjoy the fall leaves together with the sublime temple architecture and atmosphere. The Kikuya Family Residence, which is located in the castle town, also has a beautiful garden that is not usually open to the public.

Kikuya Residence
The Kikuya family was an official merchant family that served the local Hagi domain. The Kikuya Family Residence (a national important cultural property) is one of the oldest merchant houses in existence, with a history going back 400 years.

Its beautiful new garden, which is normally closed to the public, will be open especially for the fall leaf viewing season. This garden uses a traditional kaiyu layout with a central pond, and it is designed in the dry landscape style. It covers roughly 1,650 square meters in area, offering visitors the chance to stroll through a beautiful, well-maintained garden.
