The valley at Chōmonkyō was listed on the National Register of Places of Scenic Beauty in 1923. With beautiful aspects to be enjoyed during each season, the valley will refresh its visitors, and is even thought to have curative properties.

A species of cherry tree, Yamazakura, blooms here in spring. In summer, the trees are vibrant greens, in autumn they sport fiery red and yellow foliage, and in winter the landscape is white with snow.
