Chōmonkyō

長門峡

Enjoy going for walks amidst beautiful scenery throughout the year.

Chomon Gorge is a beautiful gorge stretching approximately 12 kilometers between the cities of Hagi and Yamaguchi. It was registered as a national scenic location in 1923. This gorge provides beautiful soul-soothing vistas throughout the four seasons as well as oddly shaped rocks, waterfalls, deep ravines, and other majestic sights.

A variety of cherry tree called yamazakura blooms here in spring. The trees sport bright green foliage in summer; in fall, the leaves turn a fiery red and yellow; and in winter, the landscape turns white with snow.

There is a footpath approximately 5.1 kilometers long that can be leisurely walked to enjoy the beautiful gorge.
