Enjoy Japanese tradition in a kimono surrounded by Hagi's old cityscape
The Edo period atmosphere still lingers in the streets of Hagi. Kimono Week is a popular event when we can enjoy the traditional atmosphere of Hagi through wearing kimono. Experience Japanese culture hands-on, and as you don the kimono, take part in activities making traditional Japanese crafts.
Kimonos are available to rent at the Hagi Meirin Gakusha. When you have finished changing, why not go out and explore Hagi’s old castle town – a registered World Heritage Site? A photographing service is available with our volunteer photographers on standby to give you a memento of the day!
Kimono rental, with optional photography included, classes for making traditional Japanese accessories and more is on offer. Take a step back in time to the Edo period.
